Intimacy – Why He did what He did
God’s love for us has been talked about since the beginning of mankind. It’s difficult to grasp just how deep this love really is for us.
One of the definitions for the word ‘intimacy’ is: something of a personal or private nature. How perfectly this applies to the relationship and love God has offered to us who believe. The Godhead, three in one, expressed something deeply personal and classified, when They decided to unveil the sacrifice of love to our world in the Son of God.
All of heaven and earth longed to know how God would quench the chasm that man/woman had regrettably created in the fall. Let me paint a mental picture for you in the natural realm. Imagine standing at the Grand Canyon and being given the job of filling in that great gap, no bridges or short cuts, it must be completely satisfied and filled full. How many truck loads of dirt would it take to make this happen? The National Park Service lists the volume of the Grand Canyon as 5.45 trillion cubic yards. That’s a lot of dirt! Seems unthinkable and even unreasonable, right?
Now imagine what Jesus did through His obedience to death on the cross, and what His blood filled in for our iniquities. This makes the job of filling in the Grand Canyon look like child’s play.
Remember, sin quaked through the natural and supernatural realm, creating a divide that Satan believed was impossible to undo or repair; yet, Jesus, the son of God, more than satisfied the unimaginable breech by His life and death on the cross. Why would He do such a thing? He didn’t just want to save us from hell.
The true God of heaven desires to express His love, so that we can intimately know Him. He wants real relationship and intimacy with His children. True intimacy must be experienced! Jesus was sent to communicate the reality of God’s great love for us. When Jesus died, He sent the Holy Spirit to remind us of this deep love. God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit continue to call out to us for intimacy.
From start to finish, the Bible is God’s hands reaching for His children; His desire and pursuit to have an intimate relationship with man. As in any relationship, the key to knowing God intimately is to spend time with Him learning His thoughts and His ways.
Are you experiencing intimacy with God in your life?
Today’s prayer: Jesus thank you for breaching the gap, so that I can experience an intimate relationship with Father God. I pray that the reality of your love becomes the daily experience of my life.
Today’s Scripture: Philippians 3:10a “[For my determined purpose is] that I may know Him [that I may progressively become more deeply and intimately acquainted with Him, perceiving and recognizing and understanding the wonders of His Person more strongly and more clearly] …” (AMP)
