Remember the TRUTH
Have you ever had more questions than answers in your relationship with God?
Do you feel as if sometimes the Lord has forgotten you completely?
Does life with God feel like He is hiding and you are seeking? Nothing like a game of hide and seek with God. It’s not fair. He wins every time!
Well, you are in good company. Read Psalm 13 and listen to the painful and honest prayer of King David.
1How long, LORD? Will you forget me forever? How long will you hide your face from me? 2How long must I wrestle with my thoughts and day after day have sorrow in my heart? How long will my enemy triumph over me? 3Look on me and answer, LORD my God. Give light to my eyes, or I will sleep in death, 4and my enemy will say, “I have overcome him,” and my foes will rejoice when I fall. 5But I trust in your unfailing love; my heart rejoices in your salvation. 6 I will sing the LORD’s praise, for He has been good to me. Psalm 13
You have to love King David’s honesty and transparency. He uses words like forget, hide, wrestle with my thoughts, sorrow in my heart, and enemies triumphing over him. I have related to this Psalm many times in my Christian journey. David makes me feel normal.
However, TODAY I noticed that I related mostly with verses 1-4. The last part of the Psalm is the game changer. David shares his emotions in verses 1-4 and ends with the truth in verses 5 & 6. “But I trust in your unfailing love; my heart rejoices in your salvation. I will sing the LORD’s praise, for he has been good to me.”
I believe it is important to share our emotions and heart with the Lord in an open and transparent way. But we must remember that what we feel does not define our reality or truth. God’s truth will always trump our emotions and bring light and hope to our situation.
Remember to apply the truth today!
